WHY did
In 1922, Ken-L Ration launched the first canned pet food — made from horse meat. By the 1950s, Purina rolled out the first dry extruded kibble. And in the 1960s–70s, the first veterinary diets hit the market — like Hill’s Prescription Diet — a true revolution at the time.
Humans have lived side by side with pets for over 10,000 years — yet the first mass-produced pet food only appeared in the second half of the 19th century, when James Spratt introduced dog biscuits in London.

Creating the perfect environment for BSFL, fed on grain by-products WULIANGYE
The result is a nutrient-rich substrate blend made from five grains — sorghum, rice, corn, wheat, and sticky rice — left after distillation. It’s packed with fiber, proteins, enzymes, and organic acids, making it the perfect growth medium for BSFL larvae.
We start by repurposing by-products from one of Asia’s largest alcohol holdings — WULIANGYE.
In most industries, these by-products are burned or discarded. We give them a second, biologically active life.

Growing larvae under strict control
The larvae are raised at partner's insect farms that follow strict standards:
- Substrate preparation: Grain residues are processed and stabilized to eliminate any microbiological risks.
- Egg incubation: Selected eggs hatch in a carefully controlled environment.
- Growth in the substrate: After a few days, larvae are placed in the substrate, where over 10–14 days they grow 15,000 times their initial size — turning organic matter into valuable biomass.

Separating larvae and obtaining natural fertilizer
Once the larvae reach their peak size, they are gently separated from the processed substrate — known as vermicompost.This isn’t waste — it’s a natural fertilizer with a unique composition. Its special value comes from chitin, found in the larvae’s exoskeletons.
Chitin is a natural polysaccharide that forms the outer shell of insects.When introduced into soil, it triggers plants’ immune response — as if they were under attack. This reaction boosts their natural defence mechanism, accelerating growth and making them more resilient to diseases — almost like a plant vaccine.

Preparing larvae for processing
Live larvae are delicately immobilized and partially dehydrated (removing up to 20% of moisture) to prepare for further processing. They are then washed and moved to the oil press, where the first crucial stage of extraction begins.

Separating valuable components: fat, water, protein, chitin
At this stage, the material is divided into two parts: a dry and a liquid fraction.
The liquid part is transferred to a tricanter — a high-speed centrifuge that precisely separates the mix into three components:

- Ento-oil, rich in lauric acid with natural antibacterial properties;
- Protein–chitin suspension;
- Water, which we partially recycle back into the system.

Purifying and refining protein for maximum digestibility
The dry fraction (protein) then enters its final and most important stage — deep enzymatic processing, which includes several sub-processes:
- Enzymatic hydrolysis: Proteins are broken down into short peptides and amino acids, enhancing digestibility and reducing the risk of allergies.
- Microfiltration: Residual fats, chitin, and potential allergens are gently removed.
- Purification from non-food fractions: Guarantees food-grade purity, suitable even for hypoallergenic formulas.
Thanks to advanced filtration and fractionation, the bioavailability of the protein exceeds up to more than 90% — higher than that of most meat-based ingredients in industrial pet food.
The resulting protein isn’t just a “meat alternative.” It’s a bioactive nutrient that naturally supports gut health, strengthens the microbiome, and even promotes a shiny coat and healthy skin in pets.
